Avatars are everywhere these days: In computer games, GPS devices and on homepages. These virtual beings are supposed to make digital life easier for human beings. Now, experts in Augsburg, Germany want to fit these computer figures with real feelings and make them a bit more human. Avatar Alfred for example is able to laugh, furrow his brow and get annoyed. If avatars can show their feelings, experts hope they will be able to enthuse users for seemingly soulless technology.
