I would ignore it. What is the purpose of fighting back. saying something rude back? Nothing. You will simply escalate the problem. Especially if this person is a customer, you don't want to risk losing your job. Just pretend it never happened. Remember, whatever he said probably has nothing to do with you. He is just venting..having a bad day. Forget about it, smile and move on.
