This is a wonderful video, and my heart goes out to Laura for pouring her heart out like she does in it, but I must admit, there's one thing that bothers me about it. It's that Laura has been put into a position where she needs to explain what she did. She shouldn't have to do that. That she wrote under a pseudonym should be a non-issue, I've always thought it. I've also always thought that the people who wanted to slay her for it are the same people who shot down Lorca in the middle of the road; the same people who didn't see the genius of Shakespeare when he was around and that's why we have at most 2 or 3 accurate portraits of him; the same people saw who nothing in Van Gogh, and Emily Dickinson, and Kafka, and Poe, and so they died in obscurity; the same people who rolled Mozart in an unmarked grave. They're the type of people who if you hung a painting by Rembrandt on the wall, would obsess over the frame instead of the painting itself. I hate them. Laura Albert under whatever pseudonym is not only an amazingly gifted writer, but her message is beautiful and positive, and if her writings don't live on it's a crime of the abovementioned. I think they will live on though. Even if they go under the radar for a while, the same geniuses who resurrected Melville and his ilk will resurrect her. I just hope in the meantime she writes more... under the name JT Leroy, or her own. Doesn't matter. Her words are gorgeous, she's got a fantastic imagination, and I have no qualms about giving her such high praise.

Laura is simply awesome!! I'm addicted to her words, I'm simply addicted to her! Love you more than you can imagine! <3
I'm totally blown away. I not only heard Laura Albert speaking in this video, I felt her. That kind of authenticity is a rare pleasure. To make it even more explosive was that I relate. I was moved and I relate to that mindset.  That coming from the wrong side of the tracks, I'm unworthy, I don't fit in kinda dirty girl that has to hide the truth. Bravo Laura Albert, you have made a difference in the world.  Thank you xx

Laura, as I have already said to you, this speech is so moving and powerful. You convey so much hurt and suffering and SURVIVAL, without even trying. If you've been there, you know. You are a fantastic and strong person with a huge heart. Your words have helped so many outcast weirdos who need them, and you continue to reach out to the forgotten and abandoned. Ignore the gossip folks and the dirt diggers, you rise above them effortlessly. Stay beautiful. xo

Laura is awesome. I talk to her over fb where she helps me cope being a very troubled woman having a tragically horrific past, and im so moved that she acknowledges me as a human being and not a head case or an orphan to society. Luv u Laura.

She should've just used her real name and written a novel
The book Sarah is on my all-time 10 best list and I don't care who wrote it.  Piece of work.

A bunch of old men butt hurt about some little boy not existing?? Saw this story for the 1st time today and I loved it, thought it was fantastic!!! Those reporters gained absolutely nothing for exposing her, all it did was cost the wold a good writer.
And now you can understand the failure of western civilization... Another fraud and people throw their money at her... Way to go dumb dumb!
Bottom line: she knew the books would sell better if she invented a phony hip persona that celebrities would flock to. It says something that everyone was interested in JT Leroy, but who is interested in Laura Albert? Nobody. This isn't about using a pen name; its about fame seeking, and wanting so badly to be cool that she committed fraud. And NOW she is a professional victim.....who blames it all on her childhood. How tiresome.....
