what do you think of my idea of bringing poms over to fish for carp on the murry for 2/3 weeks at a time  think it might work

Wow, some really full on comments here. Yes they are a great looking hard fighting fish but just not in this country. They do a lot of damage because they simply don't agree with our native species. The main concern would be Murray Cod, a huge slow growing beautiful green spotted fish which lays eggs on shallow weeds, the carp sift through the weeds eating the eggs. Not hard to work out why they're not welcome here.

It is illegal to put carp into the water live, as a live bait or dead/flesh bait in Australian waterways. Even if the carp was caught there and it is known they are there, you are, by legal definition, still "introducing" a carp to those waterways, which is completely illegal. Do the right thing and keep killing all carp you catch. You won't run out anyway, but think about what you are doing for the environment.
