Peter Ferry (Moses Brown class of 2009) is a remarkable young American percussion soloist quickly gaining recognition for meaningful, compelling performances of contemporary repertoire that re-imagine the classical music experience. With a passion for collaborative projects, Ferry dives head first into the boundaries between his work and the worlds of other artists, from computer programmers to flameworking glass artists. The resulting performances have been celebrated by audiences and critics alike as "percussion genius... breathtaking... presenting percussion in a stunning, thoughtful way." (Democrat and Chronicle). A recent alumnus of the Eastman School of Music, Ferry graduated with high honors, an Arts Leadership Program Certificate, the first ever John Beck Percussion Scholarship, and the prestigious Performer's Certificate recognizing musicians with "outstanding performing ability." In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
