To learn the steps and figures of the dances of the English Regency period (about 1775-1830), go to http://RegencyDances.org See the notations, animations, videos and available music CDs for this and other dances.

This is the second of five dances from our "Maggot Party" - This is Jack's Maggot, from Thompson's Compleat Collection, 1702. Notice the unusual hay on the diagonal as the first figure of the dance.

Thanks to all my friends for dancing this with only 10 minutes instruction before filming started, and to the cameramen Mike and Graham. The figure standing watching and occasionally waving his hands is the dancing master - me!

The overlay at 1m 25s is part of the animation of this dance from the site http://RegencyDances.org
