Nathaniel "Magnificent" Montague, a pioneering DJ who helped to establish the genre of urban R&B music, amassed a unique and historically significant collection of African American artifacts over a period of 50+ years. Montague now wishes to sell the collection and see it donated to an institution or other organization where it can be accessed by the public. In this video, Philip J. Merrill, a nationally recognized expert on African American material culture, introduces viewers to this magnificent collection.
