Prior to this 1958 broadcast, live TV shows were routinely preserved in monochrome either by film kinescope recording, or beginning in 1957, on black and white Video Tape. This is the first TV transmission recorded (and wonderfully preserved) using color Video Tape in the World! That happened in Wichita, Kansas, on October, 17, 1958. The show was an acclaimed Emmy award-winning NBC special, "An Evening with Fred Astaire", sponsored by Chrysler Corporation.
This clip is an old internet find. We posted it as a tribute to the NBC Television Network. We don't own the rights on this clip and it is not for sale or licensable.

"SUBSCRIBING to this Channel is a MUST for researchers and RARE HISTORICAL FOOTAGE fans!!!"
