This is shortened footage of the first full-scale hydrogen bomb. Nick named Mike, the bomb detonated on the ground and produced a large mushroom cloud that could be seen for many miles. Mike was sometimes referred to as a 'wet bomb' as it used liquid hydrogen fuel to create the thermonuclear reaction. Mike was impractical as it was taller than a three-story building and weighed around 62 tons. Mike was first thought to be around 10 megatons but after closer examination, it was confirmed to be around 10.4 megatons.
