While both Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness may not be perfect, we have to give JJ Abrams a lot of credit for taking the risk of reviving Star Trek! In my opinion we have to thank him as well as Michael Giacchino for reviving the franchise and the music to this wonderful series!!!

Five years ago Star Trek was a DEAD franchise. It was no longer popular. The only people who liked Star Trek were old school fans who would still watch the classics because they were there when the classics first premiered. HOWEVER, Star Trek was starting to slowly die around the late '90's in the mainstream media. From then on it became more and more unpopular and only the old school fans remained loyal to Star Trek. There were no YOUNGER FANS to replace the old ones. By the time NEMESIS (2002) hit theateres, it's story was poorly received because there was nothing else to do with the Star Trek lore and the writers probably knew that. The Star Trek Franchise had "run out of gas" whether the fans accepted it or not. By the time Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005, nobody was a fan of Star Trek except old school fans. In order for the franchise to survive, the logical thing to do was to REBOOT STAR TREK. Star Trek NEEDED to be rebooted or else the franchise would die. If it weren't for Abrams and the reboot films, Star Trek would be dead. STAR TREK (2009) featured a story strong enough to bring LEONARD NIMOY BACK as Spock. Even HE was impressed with it and CHOSE to come back. And I'm sorry, but doesn't his precense in the reboot signify that you old school fans of the "real star trek" are NOT FORGOTTEN? Now Star Trek is a popular, thriving, successful franchise BECAUSE OF THE REBOOT FILMS. Old school fans need to relax about the reboot and stop ripping on them. Because five years ago, Star Trek was dead. Aren't the old school fans forgetting that "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"?
