With the title referencing the prose of artist Alberto Giacometti, the works presented in The Invisible Thread of the Marvelous are an investigation of subtlety, sentimentality and the ephemeral. Through a process rooted in precision, repetition and an innovative approach to materials, the work seeks to encourage an intimate experience with beauty and nuance within the language of reductive formalism.
I return to the constructions that amuse me and which are alive in their surreality… I search, groping, to catch hold of the invisible white thread of the marvelous that vibrates in the void, from it escapes facts and dreams with the sound of a stream running over small, precious living pebbles…
- Excerpt from “Charbon d’herbe” prose poem by Alberto Giacometti, 1932
