This webinar provides you with a step by step process for mobilizing community members to take action to prevent FASD and stand up for those who are living with an FASD. Strategies for “grassroots” and “grasstops” outreach are shared. We explore how to engage self-advocates, family members, community partners and other key stakeholders in creating change that will improve the lives of people impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure. Suggestions for legislative activity that will make a difference on the state and local level are addressed.
About the Presenter:
Sara Messelt is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and has been with the organization for 15 years. As the Executive Director she has worked with the Board, staff and FASD community in Minnesota to create legislation that will improve the lives of people with an FASD. Before coming to MOFAS she was on the national, regional and state staff of the March of Dimes. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
