We interview Narragansett Brewery's spokesperson April about Narragansett Beer at Bele Chere 2012. In the interview we learn the history of Narragansett beer, its motto "Made on Honor-Sold on Merit," and interesting details about this famous beer. For example, April tells us that Narragansett Beer was featured in the original "Jaws" epic from the 1970's. (The Quint character crushes a Narragansett beer can in a scene where they were chasing the shark.) April is also a Rhode Island native--the region where this historic beer is made. This makes her the ideal representative to highlight the many attributes of this superb yet surprisingly affordable beer.
Some notes on Bele Chere: Bele Chere is Asheville, North Carolina's signature event. It has occurred every year, since 1979, on the weekend of the last Saturday of July. Over 300,000 people attend the festival each year. While the festival is most widely known for beer and great (free) live music, there are activities for all tastes and all ages. For example, activities range from fine art shopping to face painting for children. Of course, the always-entertaining street preachers are in their usual haunts along with an equal number of vocal, yet harmless, protesters. There is something for everyone at Bele Chere!
