Guest host R.J. Fritz is Out n’ About in Raleigh, N.C. In 1994, Barry Doyle and his wife, Denise, owners of Barry’s Café, received a call from the Swift Creek Fire Department. The firefighters had been busy responding to emergencies related to an ice storm that had hit the area. The call was requesting a delivery of hot coffee to the cold and tired first responders on the scene. The Doyles gladly made the delivery, bringing hot coffee and biscuits, and that’s where it all started. That day led to the start of the Feed the Firefighters Foundation, a non-profit organization that has raised thousands of dollars to support the fire department. Tune in to see this amazing example of the true meaning of community spirit.
