Canadian family forcibly held in Egypt. Canadian Sarah Attia needs you to be her voice. 891 days of this ordeal is far too long.
Who Ahmad Attia, Family Member The Honourable Senator Mobina Jaffer, Q.C.
A Canadian woman, Sarah Attia, whose husband, Khaled Al-Qazzaz, was arbitrarily detained in Egypt for a year and half, is now herself being persecuted by Egyptian authorities. Shortly after his release in January of this year, Sarah Attia and her four Canadian children (ages 3- 9) travelled to Egypt to reunite their family and bring him home for urgent medical care.
A two week trip has now become a ten month ordeal that has led to the whole family being forcibly held in Egypt. In fact, Egyptian authorities have placed several restrictions on Sarah.
Global Affairs Canada has issued a travel advisory against non-essential travel to Egypt due to the unpredictable security situation. This climate in Egypt is of serious concern for the safety and well-being of this Canadian family.
Sarah’s family and supporters are asking the Canadian government to facilitate an immediate and safe return for her family.
