30th April 2017: Talk on Mindfulness by Dr. Phang Cheng Kar at Psoriasis Association of Malaysia's Annual General Meeting. Dr. Phang is the creator of the MINDFULGym program (http://mindful-gym.blogspot.my/), a consultant psychiatrist & mindfulness-based therapist at SunMed, and the president of the Malaysia Association for Mindfulness Practice & Research (MMPR).

In 3 scientific studies among patients with psoriasis, mindfulness-based therapies (audio-guided mindfulness practice with positive visualization & 8-week MBCT) have been shown to speed up the clearance of psoriatic skin lesion during light therapy, reduce ⬇the severity of psoriasis & increase ⬆the quality of life. Among 120 dermatology patients in an outpatient clinic, the level of mindfulness accounts for a significant amount of the variance in psychological distress and quality of life.
