This video was produced by the Florida Invasive Plant Education Initiative, working in partnership with a select group of teachers from throughout Florida, during an annual professional development workshop (aka PLANT CAMP 2010). The goal of this activity is to draw public attention to problems associated with invasive, non-native plants in our state, through the use of web-based video social networking. By involving students and teachers in the production of their own videos on the subject of invasive species, we hope to begin a creative dialogue on the subject.
To achieve this goal, the UF/IFAS Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants provided teachers with a basic template and "crash course" on assembling the various components required for a short digital video production. Participants worked in teams and had 2 hours to write, script, storyboard, and film -- in the midst of an intense thunderstorm.
Many thanks to the teachers, for persevering, to Phil Chiocchio for his video wizardry and Marco Downs for web and graphic support.
