When I do a putting lesson with a student for the very first time, I will start by just watching them roll some putts. The first thing I am doing is watching how they set-up to the ball. I look for a few things.
1. Is the set-up athletic and balanced with the eyes directly behind the ball?
2. Is the stroke smooth and rythmic & is it swinging on a good plane?
3. Does the golfer have good distance control.

After taking some time to watch and learn, I can now make my recommendations. To be honest, most of the time, set-up and aim are the two biggest things any golfer can work on to improve their putting. One of the best training tools is an EyeLine putting mirror. You can purchase one from their website at www.eyelinegolf.com. Putting is an art of it's own. You must practice with a good set-up and good aim to become an excellent putter. Also, distance control is the other factor to help you make your share of putts.

For more information and to learn more about your putting stroke, please contact me at Wildwood Green Golf Club in Raleigh, NC.

Regards,
Greg
