At halftime of the 2013-14 season opener on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon presented ceremonial checks totaling $122,000 to three local not-for-profits supporting public education. Representatives of Franciscan St. Francis, Apex Benefits and Pepsico (Gatorade & Aquafina) joined IMM staff and Directors in giving the checks to IPS Superintendent, Dr. Louis Ferebee, and representatives of Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation ($87,750), College Summit ($29,250) and Simon Youth Foundation ($5,000). All funds presented were directed specifically to support students within Indianapolis Public Schools. The Pacers started the season with a 97-87 win over the Orlando Pacers.
