Laurelee gives the history of her Leilani Farm Sanctuary 260 East Kuiaha Road Haiku, HI 96708 808-298-8544. A cat lover since childhood, working for an Orange County pet rescue center broadened her outlook on the plight of many other abused animals including those used for food.

From there it was a short step to vegetarianism and then veganism. She introduces her audience to the denizens of her farm animal sanctuary presenting them as individuals, not just species. From there she touches on the environmental and health hazards of the western diet and the advantages and simplicity of an entirely plant based diet.

Recorded at the Kaunoa Senior Center, Maui on 11/15/12.
