After 141 days of construction, which started on June 28, the main arches of the Lancangjiang Railway Bridge were successfully connected on Tuesday, as 130 engineers worked collectively on the project. Due for completion in 2018, the massive bridge is the centerpiece of a new railway line between the cities of Baoshan and Dali in southwest China's Yunnan Province. The new railway bridge crosses the upper reaches of a reservoir that was formed behind Xiaowan, the second highest concrete dam in the world.
