In a queenless hive no life is left, no capped brood, larvae or eggs is present. The sound at this stage becomes louder than any other sound the hive makes except when swarming (when the roar is in fact the sound of many bees in a pleasant mood). Then, we can observe the impact of the pheromones (when a new mated queen is introduced) on the colony's behavior.
