This video contains a Lower Merion School District employee explaining the Theft Tracking feature of the LANrev management software which has raised privacy concerns over school provided student laptops. It also contains introductory description and commentary slides at the end.
The biggest revelation to me was that each time it's activated it normally takes multiple pictures. The school district has said it was activated 42 times, and successfully recovered 18 laptops. Given the mention of having taken 20 photos in a classroom in one incident, it is likely hundreds or thousands of pictures were acquired.
