Robert Valadez, a Chicano muralist/painter from Chicago, started as an artist at Benito Juarez High School, over 30 yrs. ago, where he and Jimmy Longoria, Oscar Moya, Marcos Raya, Salvador Vega, and others, drew a beautiful Chicano mural, entitled "A La Esperanza (To Hope)," on the outer east wall of their high school. This mural, painted in the finest traditions of Mexico's great muralists, continues to represent the struggles of the Mexican and the Mexican-American. Robert continues to paint beautiful murals, paintings, and, portraitures. Many of his artworks can be seen in local businesses and clinics in the Pilsen Community of Chicago and in people's homes.
