On New Year's Day, 2014, Oakville's Courage family continued their annual tradition, with the support of over 700 'Polar Bears', in raising money for a worthy cause, by jumping into Lake Ontario. As has become my New Year's Day tradition, I followed local councillors Pam Damoff and Cathy Duddeck, and their team of 'Chillin Rockin Polar Bears'... including someone who looked a lot like Shannon Tweed's husband!
Net proceeds from the Courage Polar Bear Dip have been given to World Vision Canada since 1995. In that time over $1,060,000 has been raised and has funded clean water projects around the world. Funds from the 2014 event will support the Rwanda: Right To Clean Water project in Gashora and Rugarama.
