Time to start a new project. I have a standard 24 hour timer switching off my water heater from 12PM to 7PM to keep it off during the peak demand hours (when the utility co. charges me big bucks).
However, the problem is on weekends it still shuts off the water heater. It would also be nice to have an over ride where a push of a button brings on the heater long enough to heat some water during those (peak use) times when I may need the hot water for some reason.
I am building a microcontroller based controller that will be in the hallway next to my thermostat. It will display the time and status on a simple LCD screen and have a few buttons to adjust the settings.
