Today on this 2000 Jeep Cherokee we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118354. We are in the rear cargo area of our Cherokee and we want to find the port that we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into. This port is located inside the cargo area behind the driver side panel basically behind the spare tire area. The first thing we want to do is remove the spare tire so we can gain access to the panel. You want to pull the bracket out of here as well. Next we are going to take the mounting bracket that was holding the spare tire into place and remove the two screws that are attaching it to the driver side panel. Just set those over to the side. The bracket we can take and flex it forward to give us enough room to pull the panel back. 00:53

Move on to removing the panel next. There are quite a few Phillips head screws that are holding it in place. We first want to take the ones out of the rear threshold. We can probably get away with taking two on the driver side out. When you move up the panel you can see we have got two Phillips head screws on the inboard side. One more here. From there we can start pulling the panel back. With that pulled back you can see we have got a make shift junction point with four connectors. The one furthest to the rear is going to be the one we are looking for. That is the one we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into. We can take and separate those two. There is a little tab at the bottom. Press that in and pull the two apart. 01:40

We next can take our wiring harness and plug it in line. You can also see on our harness we have got a white wire with a ring terminal on it and this is going to be our ground wire. You can either take one of the provided self tapping screws and screw it into the metal area or if you look towards the forward side we have actually got two existing grounding points that we can take and attach this to. That is what we are going to do. For the next step for clarity purposes I am going to remove this out of the way. What we want to do next is take the converter box and adhere it to the inside of the vehicle. You can see on the back of the converter we have got double sided tape that we can use to mount it. For this particular vehicle and with most vehicles we are going to have some dirt in the mounting area. We have probably got to mount it just right here. I am going to clean that area off first. With that cleaned off we can take and adhere the converter box on the inside and then from there we can start putting things back together. The 4-pole end is going to stay inside the vehicle and I am going to route it down this channel here and it will stay nicely stored inside the vehicle. From there we are going to put our panel back on. You can see with the interior reinstalled the 4-pole sits nicely in the corner. When you want to use the 4-pole bring it out the rear door and attach it to your trailer. You can close the door on it. The weather stripping right here will prevent it from being pinched. You can see you can still easily move the 4-pole around with the door shut. With that, that will conclude the installation of wiring harness part number 118354 on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.
