GM is working with supplier Robert Bosch and Stanford University to accelerate development of HCCI. homogeneous charge compression ignition —. Mazda says it can Ford, Honda, and Bosch have all tried their hand at the technology to little avail. Bosch Engineers have begun work on a new HCCI engine that could combine the efficiency and reliability of diesel engine. HCCI or Controlled Auto Ignition (CAI for gasoline engines) engines still has a bright future as automotive supply giant Bosch, together with a number of partners. The partners hope to develop a commercially viable engine called a homogeneous charge compression ignition, or HCCI, engine.
