People with diabetes may experience a range of strong emotions relating to their condition, and this can cause problems for them, their friends and their families.

According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, people who are newly diagnosed with diabetes often go through the same emotions as those suffering a bereavement - disbelief, denial, anger and depression.

Not only can experiencing these negative feelings be bad for the emotional wellbeing of the patient, it can also affect the way they manage their diabetes.
