"Give and Take" was written and produced by a group of students at Grover Cleveland High School Media Arts Academy in Reseda, CA. It was inspired and created by the Mythic Challenges program, which was developed by Mythology expert and author Pamela Jaye Smith of MYTHWORKS, producer Brian Dyer, and Create Now Founder and Executive Director Jill Gurr.

It all began in September 2010 at the c3:VisionLAB State of the Arts 2011 symposium at Los Angeles Film Center studios in Downtown L.A., in partnership with the Millenium Project. Mythic Challenges helps you to create stories that change the world by mixing the 15 Global Challenges with a Mythic Theme and selecting plot points that help you to write stories that touch people deeply and have worldwide impact.

Our pilot project came together with Pamela Jaye Smith teaching Mythic Challenges classes to a small group of students with Media Arts teacher James Gleason. They selected Global Challenge # 7: the Rich/Poor Gap. This was connected to the Mythic Theme of "Stealing Fire From Heaven."

You can see how the quality of the story that these young filmmakers have created is richer in theme and execution because of their use of our program. If you would like information about Mythic Challenges, please contact Create Now at: (213) 747-2777 or email: info@createnow.org.
