The number of people accessing HIV treatment has increased 12-fold in just six years. More than 5 million people are on antiretroviral drugs today. But for every two people accessing treatment, there are five new infections. The math is simple. At this pace the world will not change the course of the AIDS epidemic. So, UNAIDS and its partners are calling for radical reshaping of the AIDS response.
