A day on the Livno fields (Livanjsko Polje) - looking for the small birds that inhabit the waters edge and just admiring the enormity of it all. A short visit on 10th July 2009 to the confluence of the Sturba into the river Plovuca - this place fascinates me, the Livno fields are the basin of limestone that holds all the descending mountain waters from the surrounding Dinaric Karst limestone mountains. We have a Wiki entry on the web saying we are the biggest in the world.....it is home for many local and migrating species of birds and much wildlife and is a form of wetland. I see something new each visit.
