Traditional 2D ultrasound requires geometric assumptions when estimating cardiac volumes and function. Gated volumetric murine ultrasound (4D) can provide unique information. Comparison of 4D ultrasound to conventional ultrasound and MR techniques help with validation. Initial applications include mouse models of both hypertrophy and myocardial infarction.
