Transmedia SF: Show Me the Money

Transmedia Producers, Funders and Capital Groups Discuss the Burning Question in Transmedia Today: How do we fund and monetize our projects?

FREE DRINKS, FOOD, NETWORKING AND DISCUSSIONS

Transmedia productions are exciting and engaging, but how do you make and market a transmedia project when audiences are accustomed to "free" and funders want a huge ROI (and residuals) on their investment? Today's transmedia producers and tools makers have more options than ever with crowd sourced funding agencies like IndieGoGO and KickStarter and even traditional funding groups like the Film Finance Group and VC's now interested in this burgeoning field that is pushing the boundaries of entertainment and interaction.

Join our panel that brings together the various voices in the funding drama - both successful producers and the funders - as they discuss what it takes to create a successful and lucrative transmedia project.

Schedule:

6:00 pm -- Doors Open for Drinks, Demos and Networking

6:30 - 8:00 pm -- Panel Discussion

Join our panelists as they present their transmedia projects, discuss their own experiences in the transmedia industry and share what they see as the best strategies and opportunities moving forward.

- Andre Patrick, Managing Director - Institute for International Film Financing

Andre is the Managing Director of the Institute for International Film Financing ("IIFF"). IIFF is an innovative, independent social-impact organization dedicated to bridging the gap between the worlds of filmmaking and finance. IIFF's one-of-a-kind mission is to prudently expand the scope and appeal of film financing in an economically sustainable manner, for the benefit of all stakeholders including the public at large. Andre is also Executive Producer & Director at Dimension 7, a 15 yr+ pioneering production company based in San Francisco, California, internationally recognized for expertise in videography, and 3D animation.
- Mauricio Baiocchi, Director - Cicada Princess
Mauricio Baiocchi is a 15 year veteran of the Visual Effects and Animation industry. After leaving Industrial Light and Magic in 2002, he took on the role as Animation Supervisor at The Orphanage. There he oversaw animation on Hellboy, Sky Captain, and Sin City. In 2005 he opened up his own creative boutique in Berkeley, called Assemble where he directed and produced a variety of live action and animation projects for agency clients worldwide. In 2009 he was the Visual Effects Supervisor on the film Warrior and The Wolf. On that film he got to work directly with Director Tian Zhuangzhuang on the high deserts of Mongolia doing camera layouts and 2nd unit directing. Assemble closed in 2010 under the pressures of the industry, and Mauricio found his second calling coming back to the long lost art form of puppetry. He currently teaches at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and works as a freelancer for advertising agencies to fund his puppetry projects.
