This is the Game of Thrones theme performed on 8 backlit wall-mounted floppy drives. Special thanks to MrSolidSnake745 (http://www.youtube.com/user/MrSolidSn...) and Rinerion (http://www.youtube.com/user/rinerion) for the MIDI.

This works because the stepper motors in the floppy drives can be pulsed to step at various frequencies. The pulse frequency vibrates the floppy drive assembly, which in turn produces noise.

This setup uses Sammy1Am's (http://www.youtube.com/user/Sammy1Am) MOPPY software to parse MIDI files into floppy instructions through an Arduino. I've also modified the Arduino code to trigger blue LED backlighting around each floppy drive which lights when that particular drive is playing a note. I use a small 12V/5V brick rather than a full PSU for power. This is in fact hanging on the wall; the frame is about an inch thick.

I apologize for the poor quality of the video and audio. I may re-upload if I get access to better equipment. Thanks for your interest!
