McAllen Chamber of Commerce hosts the first Cash Mob in support of local shops in the community. With a lot of fan fare, the McAllen Chamber's Cash Mob opened the doors at Quips 'n' Quotes, on Thursday, May 31st at 11:05 a.m., store located at 5011 N. 10th St. in McAllen. 25 Chamber members and citizens entered Quips 'n' Quotes with $20 in hand and be ready to shop and give this local business a boost. "Cash mobs are something like 'flash mobs' where people suddenly burst into song and dance. But instead of dancing, this mob is there to shop," said Steve Ahlenius, McAllen Chamber President/CEO. "This has been done before in other big cities like Los Angeles, Cleveland and Buffalo with great success so we want to hold this first McAllen Cash Mob and see what happens. We expect it will be a lot of fun getting people together to network and support one of our local businesses." Small businesses are what make our community unique and different from any other place so it's easy to understand their importance and the economic vitality they bring to our city. The Chamber selected Quips 'n' Quotes for its first Cash Mob, but will hold others throughout the city at other Chamber member local business locations.
