On September 2nd Kashmir witnessed disastrous floods across the state. Water levels touched the second floors of houses and did not seep away for another two weeks. The state witnessed a complete shutdown of communication and transportation. While food and medicines started pouring into the state, another item of sensitive nature was overlooked amid the chaos. The women of Kashmir faced a severe shortage of sanitary pads.
Get Closer, a CSR management company along with the help of rescue workers in Srinagar identified this issue. Get Closer got in touch with Kerala’s biggest women’s self help organization, Kudumbashree. Kudumbashree wasted no time in manufacturing sanitary pads and the relief was airlifted to Srinagar with the help of GoAir.
