UNICEF has a daunting mission: to ensure life-saving supplies reach children caught in the world's biggest emergencies, including the current Ebola outbreak in west Africa. But this mission is not an impossible one.

UNICEF has just shipped 100 metric tonnes of health supplies to Liberia that will help health workers on the ground give quality care to patients suffering from the disease.

The shipment is among 1,000 metric tonnes – enough to fill 19 cargo jumbo jets – of supplies that UNICEF has sent this month. With shipments going to the Central African Republic, Iraq, the State of Palestine, South Sudan and the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as to Liberia, the supply operation is the biggest in a single month in UNICEF’s history.
