The Surface-Fitting Statlet fits linear and nonlinear models involving a single dependent variable Y and two independent variables X1 and X2. Any or all of the variables may be raised to a power. A nonparametric LOWESS smooth may also be added to the plot. The root mean squared error and R-squared statistics may be used to help select a good model.
