Mountain-Pacific Event - The ICD-10 code sets that are currently used to report health care diagnoses and inpatient procedures must be replaced with ICD-10 code sets. Mandated by law, this change will take place on October 1, 2014. The transition is required for everyone covered by the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act. This webinar was hosted by the CMS Regional Offices on June 20, 2013 and covers the background and impact of ICD-10 on industry, CMS ICD-10 implementation, how CMS is working with the states, how CMS is partnering with industry, best practices, frequently asked questions and resources and contact information. The Eastern event was held for healthcare professionals, coders and organizations operating within the CMS Regions V, VI and VII which include the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, and WY.
