British Eccentricity

A site specific promenade performance created especially for Cirque Jules Verne from an original idea by Rachel Clare and Elodie Peltier.

For two nights in May 2014, British Eccentricity revolutionised French perceptions of the English through a two nights of extraordinary contemporary circus.

High priestess of circus wonders, Marisa Carnesky invited audience members to journey through the tarot pack. A live art-rock band accompanied this extraordinary montage of live art, symbolism and performance.

Invisible Circus created a world where illuminations flicker and flying dancers showed the audience through the walls of the historic Cirque Jules Verne.

Artist Robin Whitmore captured and caricatured audience members, whilst Jake Rodrigues one man band entertained the crowds outside the venue.
