The share of all people in the U.S. who fell below the poverty line rose to 15.1% last year from 14.3% in 2009, pushing the ranks of the poor to 46.2 million in 2010 -- the fourth straight increase and the largest number of people living in poverty since record-keeping began 52 years ago, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday.
