Taiwan is a wonderful place of beautiful scenery and weather that fits the pursuits of all seasons.
However, we face frequent challenges: When will the next typhoon hit? When will the next earthquake strike?
When ruthless debris flows erode away our homeland, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) is always there to help the people with their most urgent needs, offering care and working with the people to build a safe home.
The emphases of our soil and water conservation work is on harmony between humans and nature, cherishing our soil and water, and caring for the land.
The realization of this concept, and our emphasis on conservation, is manifested in the green buffer zones we build as part of our engineering work.
When our homeland is secure, and the environment has been improved, we can start the step-by-step restoration of our lost rural culture.
The SWCB works vigorously to promote rural rejuvenation.
When we first started, the public was full of doubts about this work.
But we persevered, listening carefully to the people’s needs and staying by their side, adopting a human orientation and avoiding excessive construction as we strived to establish new values for our rural villages.
During the daytime we talked with our community partners about how to improve the environment and preserve the traditional culture.
At night, we enthusiastically joined in community education classes.
And so story after moving The story of community growth spread constantly from the different areas, like the ripples that expand from a pebble thrown into a pond.
Finally, as this strength gathered and flowed from bottom to top, we mapped out a plan for rural rejuvenation.
When the minds of the people change the land naturally changes along with them, and these small changes add up to very big effects.
Our colleagues in the SWCB are filled with extraordinary passion and an indomitable spirit.
When the people and the land enfold each other in a warm embrace, satisfied smiles reflect the touching affection of the people for their land.
This is what drives our tireless efforts to advance.
The SWCB always stands with you always as we cherish this wonderful land, Taiwan! .
