Us and Them
And after all we're only ordinary men
Me, and you
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do
Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died
And the General sat, as the lines on the map
moved from side to side
Black and Blue
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up and Down
And in the end it's only round and round and round
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
the poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside
Down and Out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about
With, without
And who'll deny that's what the fightings all about
Get out of the way, it's a busy day
And I've got things on my mind
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died

Wow a quick scroll through the comments section, and it's surprisingly civilized and peaceful! Good job people, keep it up, enjoy the Floyd!

This song has a very close memory attached for me. I remember it was Pink Floyd's The Pulse Tour (1994 I guess), which me and my girlfriend attended. Just after the concert I proposed her in front of a lot of people (it was like a large gathering because no one went away right after the gig ended) and I shouted aloud "Zara, will you marry me?" "Fuck yes, Benny, fuck yes!". and everyone started cheering and hooting. We smooched for like 2-3 minutes (pretty long time in front of people) We will be having our 20th wedding anniversary next week, also my daughter's 16th birthday (yes, same day) :-)

it makes me so sad that people dismiss this as hippie music or outdated. i used to listen to this in middle school and high school and it was such a comfort. then i started getting older and got into very angry, noisy music and i lost touch. coming back to it feels like coming home. i didn't even know how badly i missed the pure love and sensitivity of pink floyd. if only every person with power in our world could be so human, but it doesn't always work that way. it's always us vs. them. or as Fallout always says, "War. War never changes."

There are some fairly aggressive songs on The Wall, so I wouldn't say that Pink Floyd are always loving and sensitive but I don't believe that music has to be that way to be good. I love Pink Floyd's music but I also like Smells like teen spirit, Back in Black and a whole lot of other "aggressive" music. In my perception it's about coming to peace every now and then while also allowing yourself to experience some more aggressive emotions as long as you don't harm anybody.
