Da Vinci Robotic Prostatectomy is a revolutionary technique in the surgical care of prostate cancer patients. Because of the minimally invasive nature of this technique, instead of a large 7-8 inch incision frequently associated with the traditional open prostatectomy, this technique allows small incisions, with the largest being only one inch in size.

The three dimensional visualization of the human body potentially allows the surgeon to achieve a better surgical dissection, better nerve sparing for post operative erections, and better suturing to allow a connection between the bladder and the urethra successfully for post operative continence. The minimally invasive nature of the surgery allows less bleeding, allows less catheter time, and as a result, you can return to work or your normal activities much sooner.

So talk to your Alta Bates Summit Medical Center physician today to see if Da Vinci Robotic Prostatectomy is right for you.
