"Support the Mormons" by Deni Foster
My college friends have met each May for more than 30 years. We've had no trouble with our bills for which we give 3 cheers. This time they flew from way out west to meet me in D.C. At the Courtyard Marriott, the perfect place to be.
REFRAIN Support the Mormons; stay at the Marriott. The Mormons--they are all so nice. Support the Mormons; stay at the Marriott. Be careful! They will charge you twice.
"We need 3 beds, " I told Louise, the manager that day. "No problem with 2 joining rooms to satisfy your stay." I told her, "There's a limit on the costs we can incur. Eight hundred each--the maximum our checkbooks can endure."
Louise then sent an email which very plainly said, Each would owe $675 to have a cozy bed. But, oh my gosh, I'm telling you I couldn't believe my eyes! The Visa bill was twice that high! What a huge surprise!
The manager at Marriott will surely hear my story About the over-charge he is certain to be sorry. Instead he did not answer my emails or my calls. Trying hard to meet him, I kept running into walls.
So that's when I decided how to turn this wrong to right Small claims court is where I'd go to bring the truth to light. All of a sudden Marriott--before that day arrived-- Made good its word, returned my bucks, my friends and I survived.
