Hi, I'm Greg from Masters of Barbering. In this video I'd like to talk to you about the two different types of scissors you will need for your career
in men's haircutting or barbering.

The first type of scissor you're going to use is a straight scissor. This
is a scissor that you're going to use for cutting length. The next type of
scissor you're going to need is a blending or thinning scissor. This
scissor has one straight blade and it has one blade that looks like a comb.
This is going to be used for thinning hair or blending hair.

These scissors come with different types of handles. The first kind of
handle that a scissor comes with is where your thumb and ring finger are
even, so they're in the same spot. The next type of handle that you're
going to see is a more ergonomic handle where your thumb and ring finger
are offset. The third type of handle is the ergonomic handle where your
thumb and ring finger are offset and it comes with a swivel thumb. This is
really convenient for when you're cutting bangs or going around the ear.
You can move it around and still hold the scissor even.
