Heloisa Helena is a Candomblé priestess from Vila Autódromo, the favela that has become internationally recognized due to the City of Rio de Janeiro's insistence on removing the community "for the 2016 Rio Olympics" despite the community occupying land adjacent to, and not on, the future Olympic site. It is widely held that the real motivations come from pressures by the Olympic site developers to free the neighboring land for real estate speculation post-Olympics.

Here, Heloisa Helena speaks before the Brazilian Senate just days after sharing a letter published on RioOnWatch in which she discusses the intimate details of the eviction process: http://bit.ly/1P2J6ZD
