This is based on Cousin Emmy's pre-"Molly and Tenbrooks" version of a horse racing song that supposedly commemorates the first Kentucky Derby, with extra lyrics cobbled together from Mike Seeger, Larry Hanks, and of course the Bill Monroe version of "Molly and Tenbrooks."
