From The Album "Waterloo"
Released March 4th, 1974
Written By Benny Andersson, Stig Anderson, And Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Produced By Benny Andersson And Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Engineer Michael B. Tretow
"Waterloo", At First Called "Honey Pie", Was The First Single From ABBA's Second Album "Waterloo".
"Waterloo" Was Originally Written As A Song For The 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, After The Group Finished Third With "Ring Ring" In The Previous Year's National Heats. Since It Foucused On Lead Singers Agnetha Faltskog And Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Bjorn And Benny Chose It In Place Of Another Of Their Songs, "Hasta Manana". "Waterloo" Is About A Girl Who Is About To Surrender To Romance, As Napoleon Had To Surrender At The Battle Of Waterloo In 1815. The Song Proved To Be A Good Choice, As It Sailed Through The Swedish Heats (In Sweden) In February 1974 And Won The Eurovision Song Contest That Year By Six Points!
The B-Side Of "Waterloo" Is "Honey Honey" (Swedish Version). The B-Side Of The English Version Is "Watch Out".
Another Big Thanks To Shay For This Version Of "Waterloo"!
